Guest Post- Organizing Jewelry
Happy Monday! Today, I’m excited to introduce to you to an amazing blogger Annie Traurig of Live Simply Blog. A blog where you can find everything about organization and making it look pretty while you’re at it! Today Annie is going to show us how to organize all our baubles and increase their life time too! Take it away Annie!
When it comes to organizing jewelry, the two main concerns are keeping it from getting tangled, and keeping it from getting lost. General rules include the fact that necklaces should be hung to avoid getting tangled, Sterling silver should be stored in a felt or velvet pouch to prevent tarnishing, and pearls should be kept in a cotton or silk pouch to avoid being scratched. Other than that, it’s a matter of personality and personal preference.
For the chronically busy, attention-deficient, or right-brained:
You don’t care so much about the exact placement of your baubles. In fact, without some extra intention, they’d probably end up floating all over the house, or in a tangled mess. For you I prescribe a dish or pegboard. A single dish or tiered dishes are a great way to keep jewelry corralled and accounted for, while not actually requiring you to think about which compartment individual bling belongs in. Pegboards also serve a similar function; pin chains wherever you want, and enjoy the fact that everything is right out there where you can see it.
For the devoted organizer, detail-stickler, or left-brained:
You like your charms sorted by category, by color, by occasion, and you believe every last trinket should be kept in its rightful place. Your best bet? Jewelry trays that can either be displayed atop a dresser, or handily stowed away inside a drawer. Divided into singular sections, these allocate a cozy home for each and every precious stone.
For the mellow-mannered or mid-brained:
You like to keep things neat, but need a system that still feels relatively easy to upkeep. For you, my dear, I recommend jewelry stands. These offer you more organizational control than a dish, while giving you more freedom than a divided drawer.
For the independent or DIY-er:
You get your thrills from making things on your own. Use your crafty talents to build a nifty display for your treasures. All you’ll need is a frame, some wire, and a couple of hooks, and tadah!

Guest Post- 8 Ways to show off your Closet & Accessories!
Hi! I’m Joanna, a writer with Design Shuffle, a premier source for all things interior design and architecture. It’s a great way for designers to show off their work and design enthusiasts to find the latest news, trends and images all relating to interior design. I’m fortunate enough to spend my days scouring the internet for images of the most beautiful spaces. Then I get to share them with blog readers like you.
Many of us have more clothes, shoes, bags and accessories than we have space. Unfortunately, most of us probably don’t have the room in our homes for a dedicated dressing room. We included eight dreamy fashion-dedicated spaces in hopes it will inspire some decorating ideas to show off all your stuff. Thank you The Doctor’s Closet for letting me share with you today.
Can you imagine owning this many pairs of shoes? Some of you just might. The shoes take center stage in this chic dressing room.

So organized and so pretty! There is a space for everything from evening wear to bags and hats.

A room dedicated to clothes and shoes-really? I love the traditional architecture and interior design.

This dressing room looks more like a store than a room in a home. I love the idea of organizing clothes by color.

This space is absolutely gorgeous. The artful and eclectic furnishings remind me of a Parisian apartment.

The vanity area in this dressing room is an extra plus while clothes and bags are at arm’s reach.

This dressing room is filled to the brim with everything a girl needs to be classy and chic. Have any interior design ideas for your own dressing room?

What do you think of these unique showcasing ideas? Find more great inspiration at Design Shuffle where you can connect with the best Boston interior designers, San Francisco interior designers and many others!

This room is fun and bohemian. It looks like it could belong to an Broadway starlet.

Oh the wonderful world of home decorating! I haven’t done a home decor post in a long time! It’s more than time! Not to mention, I have so many of you commenting on how much you enjoy looking through my home post. Plus, being inspired when decorating your own home!
Truth be told! That is our old place! We’ve since then moved and created some what of a new design look! I’ve been wanting to post new photos so you can see it, but we’ve sold a lot of our furniture and still looking for the perfect replacements! Good news is, we’re ALMOST done. We’re now onto finishing up the bedroom.
If you’re following me on twitter or instagram, then you know that we’ve finally found a headboard and side tables! I’m so excited to be adding the finishing touches! Can’t wait to show you all! For now, I thought I would show you a little of my inspiration board! Thank goodness for Pinterest!

I love “running into” great finds on the internet! Especially this random find this morning! Keep Calm Gallery out of London, is fabulous on so many levels. Classic, fun, and corky sayings printed on poster board, cards and even tea towels!! I know there are so many shops/ sites on line with similar momentum, but this store really caught my eye!! (How cute is the, “I’ll Wash, You Dry” tea towel!?!)
Here’s a little bit about their story: “Keep Calm Gallery was established in January 2007 by Lucas and Hayley Lepola, now a husband and wife team! The site was born out of their passion for typography in poster design, British heritage and the medium of screen printing. In the beginning Keep Calm Gallery was run from their university halls. The site is now run from their cosy office in south east London, not far from their small Victorian house, which they share with their two handsome cats.” Sounds romantic!
Be sure to check them out!
