A Floral Spring Oasis

I’m so excited to share this floral spring oasis DIY with you! I was a little nervous about this one, simply because I wan’t sure how this beauty would hold up, or even survive more than a day! Good news, this gorgeous spring oasis will be around for at least three to five days. (Mine made it to day four!) I’m going to take you thought this DIY step by step, photo by photo to help you create your own!

You’ll need: Fresh flowers, cake stand, cloche (the glass dome), floral foam brick (one that absorbs water) and fresh moss.
My milk glass cake stands and cloches are from The Cross Design. Flowers from Lusso Verde

Cut your flowers to a desired height. Remember no taller then the cloche. Flowers I used: orchids, tulips, hyacinths, anemones  and few fern leaves.

As you can see this whole creation doesn’t look too put together before it goes under the cloche, so don’t worry if yours looks a bit of a frazzled mess- like mine above!

Soak your floral foam brick in water for about 15-30 minutes. (Follow the instructions that come with it) It should be nice and soaked so the flowers can drink from it! Punch random sized holes with your scissors, this is where you’ll be placing the flowers. It’s important that you don’t punch the flower through on it’s own, so the stem doesn’t fill up with foam! You don’t want to plug the poor flower up!

Flower by flower build your arrangement, creating different heights. Once you have it full enough, surround the block and cake stand with fresh moss. Once you’re finished, slowly pour some extra water, soaking the moss. Slightly bend the flowers back with your hand while placing the cloche over your arrangement. And voila you’re done!

Note: I tilted by cloche up a touch to let air in. You might need to wipe down the inside of the cloche every morning since it will get some water vapour trapped inside.

A little Stay-cation at Four Seasons Vancouver

Have you ever stay-cationed in your own city? It’s the best way to “get away” from your every day routine without the huge rush of a vacation, especially with a new baby!
Troy, Liam & I had the BEST time staying downtown Vancouver (40 min away from our home) at the gorgeous Four Seasons Hotel. We enjoyed so many activities that the hotel offered as well as all the near by family attractions! We were a little hesitant bringing Liam into a luxury hotel, apparently nobody loves a screaming baby. (Liam doesn’t scream by the way, he’s perfectly behaved…) The Four Seasons Hotel was BEYOND amazing with hosting us and baby Liam! The hotel staff all greeted him with the biggest smiles and offered him everything from baby crackers to stuffed toys, a beautiful crib in our room and extra bits of baby luxury here and there! Knowing how much they welcomed a baby, made us feel that much more welcomed! We had a great time. Here’s a little recap of our fun trip into the city!

Being completely central downtown Vancouver we enjoyed exploring our city, from the art gallery to the skating rink to some shopping down Robson St.

Looks like Liam can’t wait to get his first pair of skates on! He loved watching everyone skating in Robson Square. (Not sure about this hockey mom thing yet…)

An adorable play area in the hotel with stuffed toys and bouncy areas, bringing Liam lots of laughter!

Who doesn’t like waking up in a extra comfy king size bed. (Mom and Dad you can have the crib.)

Being in Vancouver, the rain was pouring down, so we decided to stay in and just hang out in our pj’s until late morning. The best!

Lunch! Yew restaurant at the hotel is unbelievably delicious! We LOVED the food! …And the in-room dining too I might add. Next.. off to a couple’s massage, yes with Liam… too perfect right?

We laughed so hard when we rolled Liam’s crib into the spa. We timed our massages right in the middle of Liam’s nap, we tucked his crib next door to us and relaxed to the n’thed degree! (Okay… I won’t lie, we had to get up but it was worth every effort to make it work.) Again, the staff were understanding and helped with Liam so Troy and I could feel a bit of extra pampering during our little vacation 40 minutes away from home! Oh! And the messages were beyond, and Liam finally fell asleep!

Thank you so much to the Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver for such an incredible stay. We’ve never felt so welcome with our little Liam, we will be back soon!

Thank you to Jamie Lauren Photography for capturing our little getaway, we are so thankful for you!

Huge thank you to Denise Elliott for Makeup, making me feel extra beautiful and for Blo at the FSH for my gorgeous blowout! This momma felt amazing!

Valentine’s with Swarovski & Giveaway

I’m so excited to be partnering with Swarovski and giving away the gorgeous new Amorous Pendant!

I was asked to style it during a date night… and with February just around the corner, all I can think about is Valentine’s Day! In our marriage we love date nights, they’re actually pretty sacred to us. We also adore sentimental gifts, hugs, kisses and lots of LOVE. Since having Liam, I love watching Troy teach him how to love.  I thought I would take our little date to the next level and bring Liam along. Daddy’s showing Liam a little trick or two to make me feel beyond special and of course my heart is left as a puddle on the floor. These two are seriously the sweetest, the perfect duo to gift this new Swarovski Amorous Pendant to their wife and mommy. Can a girl want anything more?

Enjoy this little story we put together with the help of the amazing Jamie Hodge of Jamie Lauren Photography.

Don’t forget to enter the giveaway for a chance to win the Amorous Pendant from Swarovski, at the bottom of the post. (Closes Feb 4th)
