#InspiredBy

Summer is in full blast here in Vancouver! It’s hot-  (very hot), and our city certainly is showing off! I am a summer girl at heart.  I crave to be outdoors and exploring my city!  My number one favourite thing to do in the summer time is to rent some bikes, ride around the sea wall, ending off the day with a yummy picnic/dinner with my two favourite men!

This summer I’ve teamed up with American Express Canada to really explore Vancouver- with all of you! I would love to have you take part and share with me your favourite hot spots right here in Vancouver. Research done by AMEX shows that we have a strong desire to discover the places we live in and almost everyone (98%) believes exploring our home towns helps us live our lives to the fullest! I couldn’t agree more! -Have you biked around the sea wall lately? The cool sea breeze in your hair makes you want to take over the world! We love in such a stunning place!  Not to mention the laughing 15 month old in the back seat of the bike, he was literally on cloud 9 our whole bike ride.

So- #InspiredBy is a fun project for all of you to be part of! Comment below with your Passion Points in Vancouver, tell me about the places you love, your favourite secret places, places where you and your friends & family gather and enjoy each other’s company. Then AMEX will be mapping each activity, place, restaurant, shopping area out on a visual map.  Think: food, music, fashion, reading, and wellness.

When the road map is all complete I will be sharing it on my blog, giving you a full access map to the best summer hots spots in our city!

My favourite spots
Biking around the Sea wall and Stanley Park.  Strolling though Yaletown and finding a great new place to eat, maybe even something quick at Urban Fare. &  setting up a picnic at David Lam Park, and people watching with my two main men!

Liam’s 1st NYC Bistro Birthday Party

I’m so excited to finally share images from Liam’s 1st Birthday party! I’ve been waiting so patiently for this month’s issue of Mini Magazine since our Liam’s little bash wash featured over on page 94!

I’m honestly so thrilled the way this birthday party turned out. I knew I wanted to do a NYC theme- but didn’t want it to be too “I (heart) NY” like. So I decided to go with a New York cafe bistro theme!

We built a NYC city-scape photo booth, inspired by Anna Rifle Bond’s NYC Print. I re-painted her amazing city scape for the backdrop, with lots of fun props for our guests to take photos with.

Food consisted of NY pizza (of course), mini mac&cheese, mini puff pastry hotdogs, mini grilled cheese topped on tomato soup. The dessert table was my favourite, I really pulled the bistro theme together with all the desserts and pastries.
I think the photos speak for themselves, I hope you enjoy them and grab some inspiration!

Be sure to check out out- magazine link at the bottom of this post.

Home Tour

It’s been a long time coming with this Home Tour! Over a year ago all the decorating, styling, photo taking took place! Now that these stunning photos have been taken by Tracey Ayton and published numerous times in Style at Home and other online publications I’m excited to now share them on the blog! (Hopefully you’re not sick of them yet!) Thank you for all your kind comments throughout this process, hope you can find some inspiration for your own home!

You can read the full interview and feature over at Style me Pretty Living or brows through the April issue of Style at Home magazine!

I won’t chat to much about what we did here, since the photos speak volumes! You’ll notice lots of whites, neutral tones, comfort and really easy living. Yes, we have a fourteen month old little guy- and everything is still clean and just the way we like it. Thanks to Stephanie of Stephanie Jean Design she helped us create a space where we can call home and love the calmness of each and every room. Working with Stephanie made designing this house a dream, creating just what we envisioned and of course pinned on Pinterest!

Number one question asked: Paint colours!! We used White Dove throughout the House with Simply White for the finishings.

Liam’s Nursery

I’m so excited to finally share Liam’s nursery with you all! Tracey (our photographer) took these photos just under a year ago, when Liam was still brand new! Three months old to be exact! His sweet nursery was just published in the July issue of Style at Home, so I’ve officially been given the “yes” to post!

When dreaming up Liam’s nursery I knew I wanted to stick to a clean, crisp palate. Lots of neutrals and whites, but at the same time really giving a “boy” feel to the room! I hope you love it as much as we do! It’s such a cozy place to escape to… even when he’s crying!

Home Favourites

image

We had such a great day shooting a family shoot for the Highstreet Blog! First off, if you haven’t been to Highstreet yet, you should head out there for a little fun in the sun shopping! An amazing outdoor shopping experience with pink berry right at your finger tips! (And of course lots more). Don’t be intimidated by the “Abbotsford” address, it’s a lot closer then you think! (For all you Vancouver/ Lower mainland friends!)

Today was all about the three of us being home and hopefully capturing a little “at home living”. We had a blast and totally played around for the feature! The feature won’t be out till September! I know sounds like forever from now! So in the mean time I’ve taken a few shots of some of my favourite little vignettes from today’s shoot! Enjoy.

A trip to the Peony Farm

image

PEONIES! I think every girl would agree these are an all time favourite! That 2-3 weeks of the year, right when the sun is showing it’s self off. What’s not to love about this time of the year?

I personally love a huge arrangement of peonies right on my kitchen island! However, peonies can get quite expensive and a beautiful bouquet can cost you your next grocery bill! Solution? A peony farm! Yes, you heard right- peony farm! Last year at around this time my husband took myself and our very new Liam out to this amazing peony farm- Flowers From a Country Garden. A bunch of peonies priced at $7.00- can’t go wrong right?  I know some places price their peonies at $7 a stem! Okay, regardless of the price. It’s also a gorgeous farm where you can explore, choose which ever peony color your heart desires and even snag some other flowers in season too! This morning Liam and I went out for a little adventure into Langley and brought home the most stunning array of peonies!

Don’t wait too long to go, there’s only a 2-3 week window!  Location: 3309 232nd Street Langley, BC

Check out our little date below! Need to teach him the way to a lady’s heart!
